My Story

Forsyth is typical small-town Texas. The houses are quaint, the high school football team is the town’s pride, and everyone is a neighbor – until a local hospice nurse and a pizza boy are found murdered on the nurse’s lawn. Investigating the case are both local policeman Michael “Mick” McKay and journalist Stephanie Gallagher, a prizewinning investigative reporter who has returned to Forsyth after the dissolution of her marriage.

The gun found at the crime scene ties the murders to a string of burglaries Stephanie has been chronicling in the local paper. Struggling to determine whether or not the killings were random, Mick and Stephanie tentatively work together to discover one tie between the victims: they both spent significant time with a hospice patient who had recently passed. Pulling on the strings leads the two down a convoluted path to the town’s most prominent businessman, a blown football championship, and a thirty-year-old secret.
